Description from the seller
Special Series Crypto Rock - Recreating a photo using the artist’s depicted photos.
Artist Photographer – Creator of contemporary images
Multidisciplinary photographer-artist, author and musician, David Law develops work centered on gaze, presence and the perception of the image in urban space. He first made himself known through a series dedicated to shop-window mannequins, integrated into the city through a subtle play of reflections and superpositions. This exploration of gaze and presence gave birth to an art book published in 2021. Prompted by the singular aesthetics of collectible dolls and Japanese figurines, he prolongs this reflection by staging them in the streets of Paris and other European capitals. Through framing, light and composition, these inanimate models gain a disturbing, almost living presence, challenging our relationship to illusion and projection.
New Series – Echo Waves / Echo Visions - A new reading of cultural icons
The Echo Waves / Echo Visions series offers a contemporary rereading of cultural icons through an immersive, vibrant pop art aesthetic. Each work rests on a mosaic construction composed of thousands of micro-graphic compositions. From a distance, the image reveals a recognizable figure, while up close it reveals a wealth of visual details. Each fragment acts like a “wave,” evoking the artist’s universe of the subject represented. The creation process is long and demanding, requiring precision and mastery of graphic tools. An in-depth study is conducted on colors, light and the overall harmony of the image. Everything is created in an original and independent manner.
Edition & Manufacture
Each work is offered in a limited edition of 8 numbered copies + 4 artist proofs (A.P.), signed by the artist and accompanied by an authenticity certificate. The prints are made on aluminum with a built-in rear mounting. Printed on bright white vinyl, mounted between two aluminum plates, with flexible UV- and humidity-resistant lamination, guaranteeing excellent durability, long-term color stability and a modern, contemporary look.
Path/Background
Since 2014, David Law has participated in about twenty Contemporary Art fairs per year in France and Europe. He is also the designated photographer and videographer for several organizers of contemporary art fairs. In parallel with his visual activity, he develops a body of work as an author and musician, including 3 novels, a collection of short stories, a comic book, a photo book and 5 self-produced CDs. A singer-guitarist, he currently performs with the band FRENZY.
