AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Handcrafted studio ceramics vase with an exceptional green-tinged turquoise glaze

Description

Expressive handmade studio ceramics vase from the second half of the 20th century.

The vase features a swollen, organically shaped bottle form with a long, narrow neck. Especially characteristic is the elaborate-looking glaze: the body shows various shades of green and turquoise with olive greens and dark areas as well as numerous black inclusions. In the lower section the glaze shifts to reddish-brown tones.

The neck is in a warm cream or ochre tone and displays a fine decorative craquelure. The combination of the calm form and the lively, highly textured glaze gives the vase a distinctly decorative and sculptural character.

The surface and irregular glaze runs emphasize the craft character of the piece. The vase stylistically recalls the aesthetics of Japanese/Asian studio ceramics, but a secure provenance cannot be determined due to the absence of a signature. Therefore it is offered explicitly without a specific manufacturer or country designation.

The vase is unsigned.

Dimensions

- Height: approx. 22.3 cm
- Diameter at the body: approx. 12 cm
- Opening: approx. 2 cm
- Weight: approx. 830 g (exact)

Good used vintage condition with age- and manufacture-related irregularities in the glaze. The characteristic dark inclusions, color transitions, and the craquelure are part of the design and the ceramic manufacturing process. No signature present.

Please note the numerous close-up photos that document the condition and surface of the vase.

A beautiful single piece for collectors of studio ceramics, handmade ceramics, and exceptional glazes.
