Description from the seller

Venus in Furs, by Leopold von Sacher-Masoch is the classic romance of tragic eroticism, depicting Severin’s intense adoration for Wanda, his overwhelming desire to be her slave and their developing relationship.

This is a totally new edition, with exclusive illustrations by Sardax, the world’s leading femdom artist - ten sumptuous full-page watercolours and twenty line-and-wash drawings. The edition also features a new translation from the original German, also by Sardax himself, so this really is a very special collector’s item.

This notorious novel was first published in 1870, giving rise to the term “masochism” and it has never been out of print since.

It has inspired films, songs and the stage play “Venus in Furs,” by David Ives, which director Roman Polanski has filmed and will bring to the screen in the later part of 2013. Sardax describes his own new edition of Venus in Furs as his labour of love.

A de-luxe new hardback, this edition is printed on super quality art paper. It is an absolute must for devotees of the book and it’s the perfect gift for anyone exploring the magical world of female domination of the submissive male.

Hardback, 220 x 146 mm. 138 pages, including 10 full page watercolours and 20 line illustrations. Silver blocked hard cover, with dust jacket.
Book is still sealed, pictures are coming from other copy of personal collection

Born 1836 in Lemberg in the Austro-Hungarian empire (now Lviv in Ukraine), Sacher-Masoch was a very popular writer of German fiction, often short stories depicting the types of regional characters of his day, but Venus in Furs remains his most famous and significant novel, one of very few translated into English and other languages, and still in print today. The author has had the singular fame -or notoriety, along with De Sade, of having his name applied by Krafft-Ebing in Psychopathia Sexualis to the sexuality which he so famously depicted in Venus in Furs. The book has become an icon and been turned into movies, plays and television.
