LORIN - Becoming

Original painting by LORIN, part of ongoing research on the human figure that emerges from material surfaces and color. Lorin's research focuses on the female figure as an emotional and symbolic space, where presence, identity and perception meet.

Becoming arises from the idea that identity is not something definitive, but a continuous process. In philosophy the concept of “becoming” traverses centuries of thought precisely because it challenges the idea of an immutable being: what we are also exists through what we are becoming, in the transformations often imperceptible that accompany time and experience.
In the painting this idea emerges through a figure that seems to be in the middle of a passage. The body is defined, while the dress, the hair and the surrounding matter seem still in motion, as if something had not reached a definitive form. There is however no uncertainty in its progress: the transformation appears natural, almost inevitable.
