Description from the seller

FULCANELLI - THE PHILOSOPHERAL RESIDENCES -
2 VOLUMES - 1960

Rare and remarkable new and enlarged edition of The Demeures Philosophales and the Hermetic symbolism in its relations with sacred art and esotericism of the Great Work, by Fulcanelli, with a preface by Eugène Canseliet and illustrations based on drawings by Julien Champagne.

Edition published in Paris in 1960 by Éditions des Champs-Élysées / Omnium Littéraire.
Complete set in two volumes, Volume I and Volume II, kept in an elegant half-leather binding with a spine raised with nerves, with gilt titles and marbled-paper boards.
The work is illustrated with 43 plates hors texte, reproducing notably architectural and symbolic elements linked to Hermetic esotericism and alchemy. The photographs shown particularly feature the famous chests of the Château de Dampierre-sur-Boutonne.

Very fine copy, particularly well preserved. The plates are in excellent condition and the interiors are very clean.

The printing justification specifies a limited edition comprising 400 copies on Lafuma pure-wove wove parchment numbered from 1 to 400, 600 copies on Navarre alfa mousse numbered from 401 to 1000, as well as 100 anastatic offprints marked H.C.

Beautiful bibliophilic copy of a major work on hermeticism and French alchemical literature of the 20th century.
