Description from the seller
ONLY ONE EXISTS IN THE WORLD - EDITION 1/1
With this vertical-format work, Medsan presents Ultraman, the iconic light giant of Japanese tokusatsu, towering above a city in jubilation, in the Spécium’s iconic pose, beneath a twilight sky streaked with rays.
The treatment fuses traditional printmaking and retro poster design: ornate frame, calligraphic title carts, bold ink lines and solid blocks of red and silver. The colossal hero, a heart of luminous color (the Color Timer) blazing on his chest, crosses his arms in the gesture of his legendary attack, while below the tiny crowd of a commercial district raises its arms toward its savior. The cartouche 光の巨人図 marks the work.
The piece celebrates Ultraman’s protective and benevolent figure, a luminous kaijin born in postwar Japan as a sky-born beacon. Medsan pays homage to him in the very language of Japanese popular imagery, between flamboyant heroism and collective fervor.
A spectacular and radiant work, ideal for adding a japonisant and heroic touch to a contemporary interior of a collector fond of tokusatsu and Japanese culture.

About the Studio:
Atelier Joconde is a collective of artists united around a contemporary living and plural creation. Established as a true art production space, the studio operates both in collective creation and in individual approaches, depending on projects and works. Atelier Joconde is also a family adventure. Le Yack, a contemporary figurative painter, develops a narrative and introspective body of work with cinematic and realistic influences. Beside him, Medsan, oriented toward pop art painting, explores color, modern iconography and visual culture. Finally, Neo Pablo engages in a more instinctive pursuit, blending abstract art, outsider art and figurative abstraction. Each work is conceived, produced and supervised within the studio, with a shared artistic standard and an identity particular to each artist.
