Description from the seller
I propose at auction a beautiful and majestic sculpture/glass vase in the shape of a fish in Murano glass, dating from the 1960s/1970s.
This imposing object immediately strikes with its truly extraordinary dimensions: it measures no less than 43 cm in length, 35.5 cm in height, has a maximum thickness of 10 cm, and a substantial weight of 2,360 grams. Creating a piece of this size and mass hot requires exceptional technical mastery from the master glassblower, both during the blowing and shaping of the figure and in the subsequent delicate cooling phase.
The piece is realized in a vivid and intense orange color, the central body presents in clear, fully transparent glass, capable of letting light through and creating splendid refractions, which gradually becomes denser and more saturated toward the end of the tail. The only color variation lies in the lower supporting fins, mounted hot to support the fish, which are in a different shade leaning toward yellow. Completing the piece are the protruding, raised eyes and the soft, stylized lines that fully evoke the Pop Art and Mid-Century taste of the period.
The object is versatile and can be used as a substantial flower vase or as a sculptural decorative piece with strong visual and chromatic impact.
The glass is in excellent overall condition, intact, with no chips or threads, and shows only the normal and typical age-related wear on the resting base, entirely consistent with its age.
Details:
Length: 43 cm
Height: 35.5 cm
Maximum thickness: 10 cm
Weight: 2,360 grams (2.36 kg)
Given its size, weight, and delicacy, a careful, tailor-made packing will be carried out to ensure maximum protection during shipping.
Happy bidding to everyone!
