Description from the seller

Beautiful set of 6 orange glass bowls produced by IVV in Italy.

The bowls are made of decorated glass with an irregular surface, particularly brilliant and very pleasant to the touch. They have a very classic and elegant design, they fit any type of dish, adding a touch of great class.

IVV is one of the leading and very few glassworks left that were born in Italy, developed there, and still produce in the Bel Paese. The company, in fact, was founded in 1952 in San Giovanni Valdarno, in the heart of Tuscany, by a group of master glassmakers, whose longstanding goal has always been to guarantee a product whose artisanal character blends the tradition and culture of their land with creative and constant innovation, inspiring a unique, authentic, up-to-date Italian style, and mixing different textures and optics with the constant and essential artisanal quality.

Transparency, brilliance, and resonance are the terms that characterize the high quality of IVV products. This result is achieved by selecting only carefully chosen and refined raw materials, which are worked at very high temperatures to eliminate all impurities.

With iconic products that anticipated trends and fashions: from the 1950s to the 1990s, thanks to the industrial scale given to its production activity, it was a pioneer in making blown glass products for the table, buffet, and home décor accessible to an ever-broader market, up to that point available to a few, as expressions of pure elite artisanal craft.

This path has been pursued without ever giving up its own personal creativity, drawing on the heritage represented by its master glassmakers, nor on quality, still today a hallmark of IVV products: from the transparency and brilliance of its glass to the color imparted in the mass of the glasses (as important not only for users’ health but also for maintenance considerations in hotels and restaurants).

Excellent condition, measurements 5.5 x 16.5 cm. Some bowls still have the IVV sticker attached.

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo. I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artistic vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and creativity of great artisans and designers who manage to shape this fragile material, transforming a rough mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I began to become interested in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century tableware; today, every day, I deal with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. I love that every day I can discover more about the objects I find while traveling around Italy, always learning something new. I always try to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each of them has a story to tell: that of the creator, that of the one who preserved it, and that of the person who will give it a new life.
