Description from the seller
Beautiful painting of Bruges
Original rare oil painting
The canvas has some paint loss on the left under the small canopy and, like that, a few tiny holes have been filled, but it could use some paint to improve its appearance
Jan van Doorn (name variant: Jan Pieter Cornelis van Doorn) was born on September 16, 1911 in Breda and died on February 27, 1993 in Nijmegen.
Van Doorn was 100% self-taught despite his broad activity as a visual artist [etcher, graphic artist, (glass-, wall-, and gouache)-painter, wood engraver, monumental artist, draftsman and maker of mosaics].
Van Doorn was primarily active as an artist in the Nijmegen region.
Many of his works deal with clowns, figure performances or still lifes. Additionally, important side products of his were small graphic works (including ex libris and prints).
Van Doorn was a member of the Gemeenschap Beeldende Kunstenaars (GBK).
Listed in Scheen, Jacobs, Scharten.
