Bodegas AGE - Wine rack - Wood - Bottle holder - Monaco - 45.5 cm

Interesting hand-carved, polychrome wooden bottle holder of Spanish origin from the 1970s/1980s representing a Monk (warrior, not a combatant).

Opening on one side with a closure secured by a strong magnet; internal space sized for a classic 750 ml bottle. (bottle not included).

These sculptural containers were made in Spain as special gift packages and decorative objects for bars to accompany and enhance the famous wines of the Spanish winery Bodegas AGE (today Bodegas Manzanos), particularly for the Rioja wine line called "Siglo". (Wine company, Foundation in 1890 of the Fernández de Manzanos family).

The production started around 1960/1965; our offering is a bottle holder produced between the 1970s and 1980s.

Thus it is about 45/50 years old, in good condition, with no signs of wood-boring insect holes. Nevertheless, a conservation treatment and a wax finish will be performed before shipment.

The hand-sculpted face is very expressive, and the drapery of the habit is notable.

The bottle is not included, but is shown for demonstration of use.
