Who is pier?
Son of parents working abroad, pier, alias Pierre Sullice, spent his childhood and adolescence in Latin America. It was during his stay in Ecuador, thanks to his son-in-law’s friendship, that he discovered the work of Oswaldo Guayasamín and awakened to the plastic arts. Since that day, he has been passionate about painting, especially modern and contemporary.
After studying modern literature and philosophy, pier joined Fémis before writing his first fiction screenplay, the story of a painter exiled in the Cévennes who discovers a materialist approach to painting thanks to a mentally disabled man. Titled “The Transparent Woods,” the screenplay won the Cent First Works, a contest created by France Télévisions. Pier himself made the film, which was broadcast on France 3, RFO and TMC and awarded at numerous festivals.
Without renouncing writing, reading and audiovisual animation, pier continues his exploration of the visual arts, producing numerous collages inspired by drawings by children. In 2023, after ending his career in audiovisual, he settled in the Gard region to devote himself exclusively to painting.
Thriving in his Lecques studio, pier broadens his pictorial research by using recycled paper supports or decorative canvas on stretchers through acrylic painting, marker or pastel. In doing so, he openly aligns with an Art Brut and Cobra current that owes as much to Chaissac as to Karel Appel, Alechinsky or Lindström. By blending spontaneity and humor, he forges a personal path that leads to a florilege of characters at once surprising and endearing.
Recent exhibitions:
2023 - Saint-Christol (34) Lisanna Gallery
2024 - Sommières (30) Tibère Hall
2025 - Sauve (30) - Alter’Livres Gallery
- Lecques (30) - JNA: open studio days
2026 - Aubais (30) - Château d’Aubais
