Description from the seller
An exceptional pair of decorative display vases offered for sale, originating from a village flea market in France.
The vases feature a very elaborate, sculptural form with Rocaille scrolls, volutes and long beaked projections. Particularly beautiful is the multi-colored design in cream, turquoise blue and warm orange/terracotta tones. On the front there are lush polychrome floral bouquets.
The design clearly leans toward the French Rococo or Louis XV style. Comparable decorative French ceramics and porcelain works with flowing shapes and floral painting were produced especially in the 19th century and later during the Rococo revival.
Details:
* 2 matching display vases / ornamental vases
* probably ceramic or porcelain
* France / French style
* elaborate Rocaille and volute decoration
* sculpturally worked form
* polychrome floral painting
* pleasant old patina and age-related signs of wear
* no cracks or major flaking known to me
* on the base only a very faint reddish mark is visible
The maker and exact age could not be determined so far. Therefore I am selling them expressly without a definite manufacturer attribution. Due to their form, decoration and signs of age they are especially interesting for connoisseurs of historicist ceramics, French decoration and unusual collectibles.
