Description from the seller
"Tinder Boy 8", oil on card, 22.2 x 21 cm, 2026
Oil painting on 1 mm thick card.
Signed and dated in the bottom right corner.
Painting with varnish.
The series "Tinder boy" starts from images received by different women on dating apps and social networks, where the male body is often exposed in search of an immediate reaction. Many of these images are sent unsolicited, reflecting a culture of communication increasingly marked by speed, by the incessant circulation of images and by the constant need to provoke and capture the gaze of the other.
The series seeks to reflect on this circuit of the gaze: the pleasure of being seen, the pleasure of looking and the way both feed each other in a visual and communicative economy where images are produced to be consumed in an instant of attention, before being quickly replaced by others, in the simple act of swiping to the next. Between humor and irony, these paintings question a culture in which the body becomes image, the image becomes an object of consumption and desire increasingly merges with the need for exposure and with the desire to exist through the gaze of the other.
Patrícia Trindade (1989) is a Portuguese artist with a degree in Plastic Arts and a Master in Painting, both from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto. Although she has devoted, over the years, to various painting series with different themes, the male figure has become the central element of her work. It has served as the prompt for various approaches and narratives—from the objectification of the body, to eroticism, to homosexuality and voyeurism—that question the usual representations of virility and passivity of gender in iconographic representations.
*IMPORTANT: Due to restrictions imposed by Portuguese carriers and shipping limitations that are beyond my control, orders to the United States will not be shipped."
