Description:
A richly decorated Dresden porcelain lidded potpourri urn / decorative vessel, bearing a blue Dresden mark to the underside together with a red hand-painted number “32”.

The piece is designed in an elaborate Rococo Revival style, featuring a baluster-shaped body, two pierced scrolling handles, a domed fitted lid and an ornate pierced pedestal base.

The lid is surmounted by a charming porcelain cherub figure, while both the lid and body are decorated with finely painted pastoral scenes depicting figures in landscaped settings. Numerous colourful applied porcelain flowers and leaves surround the painted scenes and continue onto the pedestal base.

Fine gilt highlights embellish the handles, borders and scrolling ornament, giving the piece a highly decorative appearance characteristic of Dresden ornamental porcelain.

Condition:
Overall in good decorative condition.

One of the cherub’s wings is damaged. The main body, lid, handles and pedestal remain generally well preserved. Because of the delicate nature of the applied porcelain flowers, minor age-related wear or very small losses may be present.

The underside shows the original Dresden mark and red painted number “32”.
