Description from the seller
A superb and highly collectable early Troika Pottery Cylinder vase, dating from the sought-after St Ives period (circa 1963–1968).This 20cm medium-sized vase features a beautiful modernist design. The upper section and interior are finished with a smooth, dark glaze, contrasting perfectly with the heavily textured, coarse body below. The mid-section is decorated with a crisp, geometric band displaying abstract disc and linear motifs in classic mid-century earth tones of ochre, brown, and soft green-grey.The base is clearly hand-marked in manganese oxide with "TROIKA" and "ENGLAND", and features the iconic early Trident symbol. This specific mark indicates very early studio production and is also attributed as the personal monogram of renowned decorator Stella Benjamin.Manufacturer: Troika Pottery (St Ives, Cornwall, England)Shape: Cylinder Vase (Medium)Date: c. 1963 – 1968Marks: Hand-painted 'Troika England' with the early Trident markHeight: 20 cm (approx. 7.9 inches)Condition: Excellent vintage condition.
