Description from the seller
Title: Orografia del silencio / Orography of Silence (1994)
A spectacular original mixed-media abstract painting created in 1994. This piece delves deeply into informalism and matter painting (art materique) through a profound exploration of raw texture, rugged relief, and the layering of physical elements upon the canvas.
Beneath an organic, skin-like crust of gesso and rich layers of oil paint in amber, earthy, and dark tones, the artwork conceals an internal metal structure (hidden screws). This choice infuses the composition with a powerful latent tension and a deep conceptual narrative: the very foundations and anchors of the artwork remain completely invisible to the spectator. It is a piece commanding immense tactile presence, maturity, and a magnificent interplay of light and shadow.
The artwork is hand-signed and dated ("94") by the artist, carved directly into the textured relief in the lower right corner. It comes beautifully framed in a classic, textured black molding with an elegant gold inner lip.
