Rare pair of hard porcelain plates, manufactured in Doornik and refined with decoration in The Hague, dating to circa 1775–1800, with polychrome floral painting and a gilded edge, and an underglaze blue mark; diameter 24.5 cm, height 3.7 cm.
Description from the seller
Beautiful and rare pair of so-called Hague porcelain from the last quarter of the 18th century. The porcelain plates were manufactured in Doornik (Tournai) and then refined in The Hague with elegant polychrome floral decorations, a method characteristic of luxuriously decorated Dutch porcelain from this period.
The plates are crafted with a gracefully serrated edge featuring subtle gilded borders and display in the center a refined hand-painted bouquet, surrounded by small, loose floral spray decorations along the rim. The vivid colors and fine brushwork show the influence of 18th-century French and Dutch taste and give the pieces a particularly elegant appearance.
On the underside, a painted mark in underglaze blue.
