Description from the seller
For sale from a private estate: a beautiful, compact antique binocular (verrekijker) by the renowned Dutch instrument maker Reballio Rotterdam, dating from approximately 1860–1890.
This specimen is in exceptionally good, nearly perfect condition:
Optics: The lenses are completely scratch-free and clear.
Mechanism: The binoculars still rotate extremely smoothly and 'oiled', with no play or snagging.
Casing: Authentic brass/bronze with a splendid, untouched patina of age. Absolutely not polished, so the historical appearance has been perfectly preserved.
Signature: Unique double marking; the inscription "Reballio Rotterdam" is clearly and sharply engraved on both eyepieces/lenses.
Comes with the original leather case. Note: the case has aged/worn over time, but due to its authenticity and historical value it is explicitly included with the lot.
A rare, beautiful, and ready-to-use collector's item for lovers of historic Dutch optics and scientific instruments.
