There are labyrinths in which we don’t actually seek the exit.

In Lost Within, a woman dressed in white advances alone at the heart of a vast stone labyrinth. Tiny against the surrounding walls, she seems to have crossed a threshold whose outcome, or even destination, she does not know.

Around her, the paths cross, retreat, loop back on themselves and disappear into darkness. Yet the silhouette remains calm. She does not run. She moves forward.

The contrast between her luminous dress and the dark mass of the labyrinth transforms this solitary presence into a symbol: that of the human being confronted with their choices, their doubts, their memories, and the sometimes incomprehensible paths of their own existence.

Lost Within may ultimately speak not of getting lost in a place, but of getting lost inside oneself to try to find one’s way back.

Artistic and technical approach:

The construction of Lost Within rests on a deliberately monumental and disproportionate perspective. The winding lines of the walls almost overwhelm the entire composition and draw the eye toward the depths of the labyrinth without ever offering a real exit.

Placed at the heart of this oppressive architecture, the white silhouette forms the sole luminous rupture. Its small scale emphasizes the vastness of the setting and immediately creates a sense of solitude, while making it the true emotional center of the work.

The mineral textures, earthy tones and deep blacks give the labyrinth an almost organic presence, as if it were alive. The composition thus hovers between imaginary landscape, symbolism and cinematic storytelling.

A work conceived as a visual metaphor for our own detours, our choices, and this strange need to keep moving forward even when we still do not know where the path leads.
