Obsession explores the intensity of desire and how certain stimuli can progressively occupy the space of our perception. The central figure appears fragmented among different visual languages, in a composition where the realism of the face contrasts with geometric patterns, inflatable shapes and graphic interventions inspired by urban culture.
The repetition of elements, the overlaps and the absence of a single point of reading create a sense of tension and excess. The gaze of the figure establishes a direct relationship with the viewer, while the remaining elements seem to compete for attention, reflecting the insistent and immersive nature of an obsession.
The palette dominated by oranges, reds, ochres and blacks intensifies the emotional atmosphere of the work. The warm colors suggest desire, energy and attraction, while the dark areas introduce a more unsettling and introspective dimension.
The geometric language functions as a kind of mental structure that fragments the image and interferes with the figurative representation. On top of this structure, spontaneous gestures, lines and shapes emerge that refer to graffiti and urban expression, establishing a dialogue between control and impulse.
Obsession represents, thus, the moment when attraction ceases to be just a feeling and begins to dominate perception — when what we desire becomes impossible to ignore.
