Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
A Baccarat crystal decanter from the early 20th century in the rare Fougères pattern, France, with a height of 29.5 cm, top diameter 4.4 cm and circumference 39 cm, unsigned with a later stopper, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
An exquisite early 20th-century crystal decanter by Baccarat, in the rare and highly collectible Fougères pattern.
The elegant spherical body is decorated with an exceptionally delicate botanical motif of finely engraved fern fronds, foliage, flowers and graceful scrolling ornament. The intricate decoration extends onto the slender neck, creating a harmonious and refined composition. Light passing through the clear crystal beautifully illuminates the engraved details and emphasises the remarkable finesse of Baccarat’s craftsmanship.
The Fougères service is documented in the Baccarat catalogues of 1907 and 1916. Pieces from this early production period were originally identified by a paper label, which was often lost through washing, therefore, the decanter is unsigned.
Presented in excellent antique condition for a piece more than 100 years old. Some light traces of age and use are present, consistent with its history and careful preservation.
Please note that the stopper is a later replacement and is not original to the decanter.
A rare and highly decorative example of early Baccarat.
