【Product details】

This unique Haiwari Kogakaku (灰破小三角) triangular vase was crafted by Tsubaki Iwami in 1997. The artist's signature is inscribed on the base of the vase.

The original wooden box is included, with an inscription inside the lid that reads: "Commemorating the 31st Kiln Opening – Tsubaki Iwami, September 1997", along with the artist’s seal.

Tsubaki Iwami (1946–)
Born in Shinjuku, Tokyo, Iwami graduated from Sophia University in 1970. Inspired by the works of Kanjiro Kawai, he pursued a career in ceramics. In 1984, he established his own anagama kiln in Motegi, Tochigi Prefecture, founding Beura Pottery Studio. His work focuses on natural materials, emphasizing traditional yakishime (high-fired unglazed ceramics), natural ash glaze, and feldspar glaze. Since 1990, he has exhibited in solo shows, primarily at Mitsukoshi in Tokyo and Tobu Department Store locally.
