There are pursuits that never age: a yellow circle, three ghosts and a few pixels are enough to wake an entire generation.
With GHOSTS OF JAPAN, Pac-Man leaves the clean, colorful arcade labyrinth to tip into a brutal, urban, almost clandestine universe. The ghosts are still on his trail, but here the game is played under a massive pixelated skull, between Japanese typography, painted projections, red splashes, graphic packaging codes and visual parasites.
I wanted to preserve the immediate energy of the cult game while confronting it with a street art aesthetic that is much more nerve-wracking. The contrast between the deliberately pop, almost innocent characters and this monumental skull turns the chase into a true digital memento mori: run, retry, lose, recharge... then set off again.
The LOADING... bar at the bottom of the image acts as a final wink to that era when a few pixels could create lasting memories. It is precisely this dialogue that interests me: pop culture that you recognize in a second, twisted until it becomes a contemporary piece with its own graphic tension.
GHOSTS OF JAPAN speaks to those who never truly left the arcade rooms—and who now prefer to bring their memories into a collection rather than into an old cartridge.
- FRAMING TIPS
Your artwork is shipped rolled and protected in a tube.
Upon receipt, remove it gently and lay it flat for 48 to 72 hours so it naturally regains its shape before framing.
ISO formats (A3, A2, A1…) are very easy to frame with standard frames available in do-it-yourself stores or home décor shops.
Personally, I use Leroy Merlin aluminum frames: simple, elegant, and affordable; they showcase artworks perfectly.
- ARTIST BIO:
SKE is a French self-taught all-around artist who grew up in the culture of the 80s/90s, inspiring a large majority of his artworks.
He continually explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stencil, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic and expressive compositions, often with a double meaning, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.
After an exceptional year in 2025, SKE’s profile has risen noticeably. Winner of the first prize in the Urban Master contest (2023), then named Artist of the Year at the Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as the "Artist of the Month" by Opulence Gallery in October, and he also benefited from a feature in an American art magazine confirming his international recognition.
His works have already been exhibited in major venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, consolidating his place on the contemporary art scene. In parallel, SKE also makes his mark in the digital artwork market, a major trend of the past two years, strengthening the appeal of his creations to collectors.
Icons of pop culture, bold graphics, and texture plays characterize a style that has become essential.
SKE is undoubtedly an artist to follow, to start or enrich a collection with rising value.
Listed & Awarded Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art
A UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY SKE’s work sits in a prestigious lineage. His line shows the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating the subversion of Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works create a bridge between eras: they revisit classics, not hesitating to twist the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, Vermeer’s Young Girl, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed forms to confront them with a modern urban aesthetic close to Mr Brainwash or Kaws.
POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA Drawing from the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons from our childhood. He stages the Disney universe with figures like Mickey or Pinocchio, and the symbolic greed of Scrooge. The influence of gaming, comics and graphic novels is omnipresent: from the Nintendo universe and the legendary Game Boy, to Pokemon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), and the Marvel superheroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.
LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style that sometimes recalls Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits beside logos of luxury and fashion giants. His canvases capture the “Hype” aesthetic: you encounter sneaker culture (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and high fashion (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also incorporates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not to forget mass consumer icons like Coca-Cola. It is vibrant art, with textured finishes that sometimes evoke the glossy sheen of Jeff Koons or the facets of Richard Orlinski.
This artwork is ideal for enriching a collection or bringing a dynamic touch to your interior.
