Magical Dance develops an anthropological and visual investigation of the women of the Omo Valley, starting from the images and iconographies that have most contributed to constructing an imaginary of ethnic Africa.

These representations, often marked by a spectacularization of aesthetics and exoticism, are reworked through a painterly process that introduces a filter of fragmentation. The surface of the image cracks, calling into question the presumed authenticity and stereotyped beauty of these iconographies.

The body transforms, breaks apart, and loses its formal unity, becoming the site of a critical reflection on the mechanisms of representation, on the construction of the Western gaze, and on the fragility of visual identities.
