About me.
I was born in 1979 in Afghanistan as the son of an Uzbek family and came to Munich in 1993, where I grew up and began my artistic career. In 2000 I began my studies in painting and graphics at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich in the class of Prof. Axel Kasseböhmer. In 2005 I was appointed master student; in 2007 I completed my studies with the diploma. Today I live and work in Augsburg.
Painting forms the core of my artistic work. For me, the focus is on the slow, concentrated process of creation—the intensive engagement with form, color, light, space, and material, as well as the search for a convincing translation of an inner image into painterly reality. The image develops layer by layer in dialogue between intuition and reflection, between planning and openness to unexpected developments. An essential foundation of my work is the intensive engagement with my subjective perception. I am interested in the expressive possibilities of painting, making subjective, essential feelings perceptible through composition, application of color, and the effects of light and atmosphere.
