In The Last Free Sailor, SKE places Corto Maltese at the heart of a universe that seems determined to organize everything: containers, grids, barcodes, industrial typography, the injunction “CLOCK IN,” and language fragments from elsewhere.
Facing this control machine, the sailor remains impassive. Free, almost insolent. The contrast is immediate. The nervous black-and-white of the character clashes with the olive green of the containers, the orange of the signal cues, and the golden touches of the anchor. Splashes, scratches, worn imprints, and graphic layers give the whole the energy of an urban wall that has absorbed years of travel, goods, and passages.
SKE does not treat Corto as a simple comic icon. He makes him a symbol: that of the man who refuses to be reduced to a square, a schedule, or a code. Pop culture meets street art and contemporary collage here to create an image familiar at first glance, but much denser the closer you look.
The Last Free Sailor is conceived as a character piece, made to enter a collection where references count as much as artistic writing. You recognize Corto. Then you discover everything that surrounds him. And suddenly, the title takes on its full meaning: in a world that points, classifies, and labels, there is still a sailor impossible to put away.

- FRAMING TIPS

Your artwork is shipped rolled and protected in a tube.

Upon receipt, remove it gently and lay it flat for 48 to 72 hours so it naturally regains its shape before framing.

ISO formats (A3, A2, A1…) are very easy to frame with standard frames available in hardware or decor stores.

Personally, I use Leroy Merlin aluminum frames: simple, elegant, and economical; they showcase the works perfectly.

- ARTIST BIO:
SKE is a self-taught French artist who is a true all-rounder, immersed in 80s/90s culture that inspires many of his works.

He continually explores new techniques: acrylic painting, collage, stencil, graffiti, urban installations, and digital art. His dynamic, expressive compositions, often with double readings, blend the raw energy of street art with the visual impact of pop art.

After an exceptional 2025, SKE’s profile has risen notably. Winner of the first prize at Urban Master (2023), then named Revelation of the Year at Color Jam Challenge (2025).
SKE was selected as "Artist of the Month" by the Opulence gallery in October, and he also benefited from a feature in an American art magazine confirming his international recognition.

His works have already been exhibited in major venues in Europe, the United States, and Asia, strengthening his place in the contemporary art scene. At the same time, SKE has also established himself in the digital art market, a major trend of the last two years, boosting the appeal of his creations among collectors.

Icons of popular culture, bold graphics, and texture play define a style that is now essential.

SKE is undoubtedly an artist to watch, to begin or enrich a collection with rising value.

Ranked & Awarded Artist – Pop Art & Contemporary Street Art

A UNIVERSE BETWEEN HERITAGE AND MODERNITY SKE’s work sits in a prestigious lineage. You can see in his line the visual efficiency of Keith Haring and Andy Warhol, while incorporating the subversion of Banksy or the pioneer Blek le Rat. His works bridge eras: they reinterpret the classics, not hesitating to remix Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl Earring, Hokusai’s The Great Wave, or Picasso’s deconstructed shapes to confront a modern urban aesthetic akin to Mr Brainwash or Kaws.

POP CULTURE & NOSTALGIA Draws from the collective imagination, SKE manipulates icons of our childhood. He stages Disney’s universe with characters like Mickey or Pinocchio, and Scrooge McDuck’s symbolic greed. The influence of gaming, comics, and Manga is omnipresent: from the Nintendo universe and the mythical Game Boy, to Pokémon creatures (Pikachu, Charizard, Ash), through Marvel Super Heroes. SKE crystallizes these memories in the manner of Daniel Arsham or Takashi Murakami.

LUXURY, HYPE & CONSUMER SOCIETY In a style sometimes reminiscent of Alec Monopoly, the artist plays with codes of success and materialism. The Dollar symbol sits beside luxury and fashion logos. His canvases capture the aesthetic of “Hype”: the sneaker universe (Nike Air Jordan, Adidas, Off-White) and high fashion (Louis Vuitton, Hermès, Louboutin). He also integrates automotive adrenaline (Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, AMG) and precision watchmaking (Rolex, Tag Heuer), not forgetting mass consumer icons like Coca-Cola. It’s a vibrant art with textured finishes that sometimes evoke the glazed finish of Jeff Koons or the facets of a Richard Orlinski.

This work is ideal to enrich a collection or add a dynamic touch to your home.
