Description from the seller

Majestic 6-person service from the prestigious Italian manufactory Richard Ginori. The service is made in the form of the model "Doccia," one of the most celebrated from the famous manufactory. The shape of these plates still echoes the first Doccia model, which, unlike the "Antico Doccia" model, reissued by Richard Ginori from the late twentieth century, has smaller plate diameters, in keeping with the taste of the 1950s and 1960s, different from the modern one.

The plates are also embellished with a gold thread running along the edge. On the rim of the plates there is an additional decoration: a bouquet of flowers of different types and colors.

The service is composed as follows:
6 antipasto plates
6 soup plates
6 flat plates
1 salad bowl
1 gravy boat
1 round tray

Table service with classic lines, Doccia is the place where in 1735, from the artistic and entrepreneurial intuition of Marquis Carlo Ginori, the historic Manifattura was born, the factory of white gold. The Doccia shape defines the deepest essence, which identifies the manufactory worldwide as a Maison of excellence of pure porcelain and design. Curved lines and a profile inspired by late Baroque Florentine silverware make Doccia a timeless collection. The essential white evokes a sense of coming home, to a place of our own, unfading in its beauty.

The plates are in generally good condition. It is noted that one plate is a replacement from a service with a similar border by Winterling Bavaria; one plate has a small chip. The flat and soup plates bear a newer mark than the saucers and the serving set; the crenellations, typical of the Doccia model, are also slightly deeper on the plates with the newer mark, as shown in the photograph.

Seller's Story

My name is Riccardo. I recently graduated in Art History from the University of Florence and I am passionate about porcelain. From tableware to artistic vases, from figurines to tea and coffee sets, I am fascinated by the mastery and creativity of great artisans and designers who manage to shape this fragile material, transforming a rough mass into masterpieces with a story to tell. During my years at university I began to become interested in the history of nineteenth- and twentieth-century tableware; today, every day, I deal with prestigious porcelain pieces that always have something to say to me and to those who purchase them. I love that every day I can discover more about the objects I find while traveling around Italy, always learning something new. I always try to convey to my clients this passion I have for the objects I sell, certain that each of them has a story to tell: that of the creator, that of the one who preserved it, and that of the person who will give it a new life.
