Description from the seller
The largest club for thimble collectors is the Thimble Collectors International (TCI) in America. The club was founded in the 1970's and is still very much in operation today. In the 1970's, clubs around the world were founded to meet the growing interest of the many people who were beginning to collect thimbles, some of these clubs are also still in existence. TCI is divided all over America into various clubs, all of which are members of TCI. The clubs take turns to organize a two-yearly convention which enables the club members to meet and discuss their joint hobby. To commemorate these meetings, a special thimble is made each time which can be bought at the convention. The collection seen here is built up over the years by a collector, commemorating each year that she attended a meeting, ranging from 1984 to 2012 from Philadelphia to San Diego, Texas, Long Beach, Boston and San Francisco amongst others.
The thimbles are made of 925 Sterling Silver and all marked in the inside top (sorry no photo possible) by Simons Silver Factory in Philadelphia. This famous silver factory specializes in thimble making.
A unique opportunity for a thimble collector to add these beautiful thimbles to the collection. Each is decorated with emblems and/or text relating to the place where the convention was held. The Texas thimble from 1998 has a dropped rim for extra protection of the finger when embroidering as well as a delightful band of cows and a horse with rider. Another from "The Garden State" (New Jersey) has a band of flowers and foliage and "The Land of Thimbles" (probably) from 1996 has a lovely band of tiny thimbles.
All thimbles are in MINT condition.
Careful packaging will ensure a safe delivery. (See my feedback on Catawiki).
