Description from the seller
- About the artwork:
"EUROPA"
Acrylic and pastel on canvas
50 × 50 cm
Unique piece
Cropline Series
Signed in the upper right
Year 2026
The Cropline series stems from a reflection on each person’s journey.
The destination point is symbolized by a landmark, while the interweaving lines evoke detours, choices, obstacles and encounters that shape a life path.
No trajectory is perfectly straight. Some lines intersect, loop back on themselves, or stray before regaining their direction, much like our own experiences.
Each work is given the name of a real place, not to offer a faithful representation, but to convey a sensation, energy or emotion through an original graphic composition.
In Europa, the geometry of the lines opposes the proliferation of colors and splashes. This contrast symbolizes a continent split between order and chaos, between unity and diversity. Paths persist despite the tumult, inviting each viewer to find their own way amid complexity.
- About the artist:
Frédéric Truteau is a self-taught painter born in Marseille in 1970. He now lives near Aix-en-Provence.
Through his various series, he explores diverse graphic universes where each project develops its own visual language.
With Cropline, he deliberately moves away from his street art creations to offer a more purist exploration, built around the notion of a journey. The lines become a metaphor for the paths each person takes, the decisions, detours and encounters that shape a life.
His work blends geometric abstraction, bold colors and cultural references to create works with multiple levels of meaning: immediately accessible through their aesthetics, they also invite the viewer to project their own story onto them.
Each canvas is handmade, unique.
