Mario Vellani Marchi trained at the Academy of Fine Arts of Modena, where he was a pupil of Giuseppe Graziosi and Pio Semeghini. From 1924 he participated in the Venice Biennale, returning to exhibit there in numerous subsequent editions. His research, initially linked to a classical approach, progressively developed toward a more personal and poetic language, also in relation to the environment of the so-called Burano School.

The work, dated 1947, depicts a composition of faces and belongs to a mature phase of the artist's production.

Condition: good overall condition, compatible with the age of the work, with normal and slight traces of time on the support. The photographs constitute an integral part of the description and accurately document the state of conservation.
