Description from the seller

Ancient ceramic serving set – Villeroy & Boch (Dresden)
Splendid and rare lot consisting of 8 pieces signed Villeroy & Boch, Dresden plant, a manufactory of excellence in the historic European ceramic tradition.
Production period: Late 19th / early 20th century (between 1874 and 1909), characterized by the classic mark with coat of arms and Mercury’s head stamped on the bottom.
Origin: Germany (Dresden, Saxony).
The set comprises 7 coordinating pieces with cobalt blue decoration on a white background and refined fluted relief work, as follows:
1) Tureen with stand (raised serving plate), diameter 26.5 cm, height 13 cm..
2) No. 6 soup plates with diameter 24 cm..
3) Square bowl with rounded edges, dimensions 25 x 25 x 7.5 cm, (two small chips)
In generally excellent condition with normal, slight signs of age and wear. All pieces are intact and free of chips or cracks, except the square bowl which shows two chips at the corners, clearly visible in the photos.
Any minor imperfections in the ceramic are typical of artisanal workmanship.
They feature the natural and authentic crazing (craquelé) of the glaze, a physiologic patina of time for antique porcelain that guarantees its absolute originality and historical authenticity.
Please carefully view the photo gallery, which is an integral part of the description, to avoid unpleasant misunderstandings.
Careful packaging and tracked shipping.

Seller's Story

For over 20 years, I have dedicated myself passionately to the search for and trading of special, rare, curious objects from any era. Every piece I select has something that catches my attention: it can be the shape, the story, the unusual aspect, or simply that detail that makes it unique. I am always searching for objects that speak, that tell something to those who know how to listen. I choose them carefully, photograph them honestly, and describe them as accurately as possible. Selling on this Catawiki to share this passion with those who, like me, love to surround themselves with things with a soul.
