“Contrapunto”

Contrapunto begins as a contemporary reinterpretation of Kazimir Malevich’s work, taking as reference a 1913 composition linked to his investigations into form fragmentation, rhythm, and the transformation of the pictorial language.

In this work, the figure is built through a succession of geometric planes, curves, and lines that overlap and confront each other, generating a visual tension similar to the relationship between different voices within a musical composition. Hence the title Contrapunto: each form seems to respond to another, creating an internal rhythm that guides the gaze across the canvas.

Color assumes a structural function. Reds and oranges provide intensity and expansion, while blues, greens, and grays introduce moments of pause and depth. Black acts as an articulating element, delimiting and connecting the different chromatic masses. This contrast allows the composition to oscillate constantly between balance and tension.

The reference to Malevich is not intended to establish a dialogue with the vanguard’s early 20th-century explorations, but rather to translate them into a contemporary pictorial language. The fragmentation of the figure, the multiplicity of planes, and the break with conventional perspective serve as starting points to construct a new image in which geometry, color, and movement acquire autonomy.

Contrapunto thus presents a meeting between memory and reinterpretation, where the vanguard’s heritage transforms into a distinct composition: a kind of visual score in which each plane, each contrast, and each fragment contribute to a single rhythm.

Seller's Story

I am a contemporary artist based in Madrid, Spain. My work explores the relevance of Cubism from a contemporary perspective, building a visual language of its own where form, color, and composition dialogue to create scenes filled with balance, symbolism, and emotion. Each work is an original and exclusive creation, conceived as a unique piece that reflects ongoing research into the figure, space, and expression. My aim is to create paintings that not only capture the eye but also establish a lasting connection with those who view them. All works are signed and come with their corresponding Certificate of Authenticity, guaranteeing their originality and provenance. My paintings are part of private collections in different countries and are intended for collectors who value authenticity, quality, and the singular character of a contemporary artwork.
