Biography: Herman Moerkerk He was born on March 2, 1879 in ’s-Hertogenbosch and became famous for his caricatures, paintings, drawings and engravings of Brabant peasant types. He also made a name as a writer, speaker, director and designer of posters and parades. He was an employee of the Provincial Noord-Brabant and ’s-Hertogenbosch Courant of the firm J.J. Arkesteyn and of "Het Huisgezin", in which he closely followed the Bossche scene with his quick and skilled drawing talent, even after his move to Haarlem in 1927, where he joined the service of the "Catholic Illustration". Pupil of Theod. van Kempen, Jan Bogaerts and P.M. Slager sr. Works in the collections of, among others, Frans Hals Museum, Noord-Brabants Museum, Gemeentemuseum Helmond, Singer Museum and Museum Kempenland.
