Veduta naturalistica, a nineteenth‑century oil painting by G. Milani (dated 1893), Italy, depicting a river landscape with a waterfall and rural building; signed, in good condition, 17.5 cm by 24.8 cm, sold with a wooden gold frame.
Description from the seller
The subject is a riverscape with a waterfall and a rural building, probably a mill or a hydraulic structure.
Signed, probably G.Milani, dated 1893
A gilded wooden frame in a nineteenth-century taste, rather simple, probably contemporary or at least very close in time to the painting.
There are several elements typical of nineteenth-century landscape painting:
* great attention to atmosphere;
* a very bright sky;
* vegetation treated in masses;
* water used as a reflecting element;
* a small group of figures on the path;
* animals in the foreground;
* rural architecture on the right;
* composition built along a diagonal that leads the eye from the path to the waterfall
There is a dedication on the back:
"A Luigi Amore
amico carissimo
in segno di riconoscenza, affetto e stima
offrono questo quadretto
Giulia, Guido, Pio, Luigi e Maria
Aprile 1893"
