Things That Float
Things That Float builds a scene where the laws of reality seem suspended. Faces, instruments, containers, fruits, and geometric shapes coexist in a space with no apparent gravity, like fragments of a memory or elements rescued from a dream whose logic remains deliberately open.
The composition originates from a contemporary Cubist language, visible in the geometrization of the faces, the fragmentation of space, and the coexistence of different perspectives. However, these resources shift toward a clearly Surrealist territory: objects abandon their natural locations, change scale, and appear suspended, establishing unexpected relationships among themselves.
Intense blue dominates the surface and functions as an infinite space over which the other elements emerge. In front of it, yellows, ochers, pinks, and reds generate points of energy and construct a dynamic visual journey. The guitar and the vessel provide warm, earth tones, while circular shapes seem to transform into small celestial bodies within this peculiar constellation.
The two faces observe the scene from impossible positions, becoming simultaneously characters and witnesses. Around them, everyday objects lose their habitual function to acquire a new symbolic dimension: a guitar may be a memory, a goblet a celebration, a fruit a desire, and a vase a memory.
Things That Float thus proposes a small universe where the mundane is freed from its weight and takes on the unpredictable logic of dreams. A scene in which nothing needs to occupy the place it traditionally occupies and where each object seems to preserve the secret of what it once meant.
