Rose Omen
Rose Omen builds a suspended scene between portrait and symbol. The female figure appears serene, frontal and almost hieratic, surrounded by elements that seem to transcend her ordinary condition. The roses, the fruit, and the solar form behind her turn the composition into a kind of small ritual stage, where each element seems to announce something that is yet to happen.
The work is articulated from a contemporary cubist language, visible in the geometrization of the body, the simplification of the face, and the construction of space through chromatic planes. The dominant curves soften this structure and give the figure an organic presence, balancing geometry and sensitivity.
Color plays an essential role. Blues and turquoises create a deep, contemplative atmosphere over which the pinks, corals, and reds emerge with particular intensity. The flowers seem to expand their chromaticism toward the figure itself, while yellows and earth tones introduce small zones of light and warmth. Thus, color not only organizes the composition but also contributes to building its emotional dimension.
The roses function as a symbol of beauty, transformation, and transience, while the circular and spiral form next to the face introduces a more enigmatic reading: it could evoke a sun, an ancestral sign, or the representation of a cycle that begins and ends to start again.
The title Rose Omen arises precisely from that ambiguity. We do not know what the flowers announce or what the figure contemplates. The work remains deliberately open, placed in that moment before the event, when intuition precedes certainty and the symbols seem to know something we still do not know.
