Beautiful work finely executed by the Breton painter, Paul Pascal, which depicts the festivities during a Pardon feast, most certainly at Saint-Anne-la-Palud.
This rare and beautiful scene is animated by numerous characters dressed in their Breton traditional outfits.
A pupil of the painter Albert Maignan in Paris, Paul Pascal exhibited at the Salon des artistes français starting in 1894, and became a member there. A lover of Brittany, he created many landscapes and genre scenes, mainly subjects from Cornouaille: Douarnenez, Concarneau, Pont-Aven, Morgat, Sainte-Anne-La-Palud.
Dimensions: 27 x 35 cm without frame and 42.5 x 50.5 cm with its original wooden Louis XV-style gilded frame.
