Avondgloed is an original oil on panel landscape by Jan J. van der Stap (1874–1940) from the Netherlands, measuring 21.5 × 14.5 cm without a frame (35.5 × 27 cm with the original heavy wooden frame, signed and in good condition).

Title of the artwork: "Evening Glow" –
Artist: Jan J van der Stap 1874-1940 from Delft.
Description: Beautiful, extremely atmospheric Dutch landscape titled "Evening Glow"
The depiction shows an impressionistic Dutch landscape at dusk. Central in the field stand monumental hayricks (cornstacks) with beside them a farmer figure subtly placed with a blue clothing accent. The small panel shines through the atmospheric transitions and the warm ochre-yellow and brown earth tones that masterfully capture the last glow of the setting sun. The work is laid out with a sturdy, paste-like (thick) brushstroke, which gives the composition a wonderful dynamism.
Unique provenance & condition:
The reverse of the work offers a documented history. The panel is equipped with the original blue artist's or title label with the handwritten inscription "Evening Glow". Additionally, on the back of the frame is the authentic, historical Art-Deco sticker of the well-known Electr. Lijstenfabriek & Kunsthandel "Elfas" (located at Wittevrouwenstraat 42 in Utrecht), where the work was framed and traded. The painting is in excellent, original condition. The signature and the year are applied in the bottom left in the paste-like paint.
