Figures in Dialogue
Figures in Dialogue has been conceived as a diptych, where two independent portraits establish a visual and emotional relationship when viewed together. The figures do not face each other literally, but their gazes, geometries, and chromatic fields generate a silent conversation that traverses both compositions.
The set develops from a contemporary cubist language, visible in the fragmentation of the faces, the construction through geometric planes, and the deliberate alteration of perspective. Each character preserves its own identity, but shares with the other the same pictorial logic, creating a constant tension between individuality and correspondence.
Color functions as one of the main link between the two pieces. Blues, turquoises, oranges, earth tones, and reds appear alternately on the two canvases, shifting from one figure to the other and generating continuity. The chromatic contrasts bring energy while the black lines structure the faces and reinforce their expressive character.
The diptych arrangement also introduces a reading based on duality: two identities, two spaces, and two ways of occupying the same reality. The physical distance separating the canvases becomes an essential part of the work; it is precisely in that intermediate space where the dialogue seems to occur.
Figure in Dialogue thus proposes a reflection on encounter and identity. Two autonomous presences that, when placed side by side, construct a third reality: the invisible relationship that arises between the two.
