Staf Beerten born 8 June 1930 in Beverlo died 25 September 2019 in Paal-Beringen was a Belgian visual artist, painter and draftsman. Staf Beerten received his education at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the National Higher Institute in Antwerp. He taught painting at the School of Fine Arts in Neerpelt, the Academy of Beringen and at the Academy of Visual Arts Heusden-Zolder. Staf Beerten was a member of Kunstkring Heikracht Neerpelt, Kunstkring Beringen of which he was cofounder, Palarte Paal and Kunstkring Tessenderlo. Staf Beerten undertook study trips to the former Yugoslavia, Greece, Turkey, Spain, the South of France and Bulgaria and he participated in group and solo exhibitions at home and abroad. Staf Beerten became known as a landscape painter but also painted still lifes, portraits, figures and religious scenes. In 1963 he won the “Torenprijs” Neerpelt and in 2014 he earned the Cultural Prize of the city of Beringen.
