Kneeling Monaco (No reserve price)

A hand-carved Burmese wooden statue depicting a Buddhist monk in prayer, identifiable as Śāriputra (Sāriputta), one of the principal historical disciples of Gautama Buddha. The artifact is a classic example of sacred art from the Mandalay Period. The sculpture is entirely made of wood, finished with a black lacquer base and beautifully adorned in gold leaf. The monastic robe (sanghati) draped over the shoulder is richly carved in relief and embellished with original inlays of fragments of colored glass and mirrored pieces, intended to capture and reflect ritual light.
