Fascinating genre scene set inside a tavern, characterized by a composition rich with characters and a pleasant narrative atmosphere.

The work depicts several men playing cards around a table, while on the right a female figure observes the scene with a jug in her hand. The setting is rendered with great attention to detail: the casks, the table, the cards, the glasses, and the clothes of the figures contribute to effectively recreate the popular and convivial atmosphere of the scene.

Particularly successful is the play of light and shadow, with the darker background that highlights the figures and the warm tones of the clothing and furnishings. The composition, broad and well-structured, features numerous figures and details that make the work decorative and of strong visual impact.

The work is presented within an important, finely crafted gold frame, well proportioned to the painting and capable of further enhancing its composition.

The photographs were also taken under spotlights to best display colors, details, and the painting’s surface.

The work shows normal signs and defects compatible with its age and history. The frame is considered a courtesy and therefore will not be counted in the lot in case of damage during transport. For each work we issue a certificate of guarantee.
