Description from the seller
Oil on canvas mounted on an antique wooden frame. The back is clean and the canvas is in excellent tension. An enchanting antique oil painting on canvas depicting a evocative rural landscape. The composition unfolds along the bank of a watercourse, where in the foreground a rustic farmhouse emerges, set among the vegetation, flanked by vertical elements of slender cypress trees and maritime pines in the background. The work is characterized by a soft, natural color palette, playing with shades of greens, browns and warm earth tones, topped by a clear sky with pastel touches. The painting technique reveals a thick, fluid brushstroke, strongly inspired by the Italian landscape painting tradition of the 20th century (post-Macchiaiolo style / vedutismo of Central Italy). The painting bears in the bottom right a clearly visible signature in uppercase letters, marked by the monogram "FER". The type of wood of the frame, how it is cut, and the natural oxidation of the canvas (yellowed but not darkened by time) fully confirm the dating to the mid-20th century (1950s–60s).
