Description from the seller

Donald Lipski-Roland Garros 1995

Official poster in excellent condition for a period print dating from 1995.

Original photos of the artwork offered for sale. Artwork stored flat under a plastic sleeve in a professional binder and a non-smoking area.

Dimensions: 76 × 58 cm

An original poster by the American artist Donald Lipski, commissioned by the Roland-Garros Tournament Authority to promote the event organized in 1995 at the Roland-Garros stadium in Paris. Signed on the board.

Lipski is an American sculptor best known for his installation work and large-scale public pieces. His work is characterized by the recontextualization of everyday objects, transforming ordinary items into poetic and surreal icons.

This poster targets fans and collectors of contemporary art, tennis enthusiasts, and fans of the French Open. It depicts two antique rackets assembled in the shape of a heart, blending sport and visual poetry.

This work will appeal to fans of the four Grand Slam tournaments — Roland-Garros, Wimbledon, the US Open, and the Australian Open — as well as collectors of vintage tennis posters and graphic sports art. It will find its place among aficionados of the French Tennis Federation (FFT), clay courts, the French Internationals, but also among ATP and WTA tournaments.

Since 1980, the list of artists who have designed the tournament poster has been prestigious:
Valerio Adami, Eduardo Arroyo, Jean-Michel Folon, Vladimir Velickovic, Gilles Aillaud, Razzia, Jacques Monory, Jiří Kolář, Gérard Titus-Carmel, Pierre Alechinsky, Nicola De Maria, Claude Garache, Joan Miró, Jan Voss, Jean Le Gac, Ernest Pignon-Ernest, Donald Lipski, Jean-Michel Meurice, Antonio Saura, Hervé Télémaque, Antonio Seguí, Antoni Tàpies, Sean Scully, Arman, Jane Hammond, Daniel Humair, Jaume Plensa, Günther Förg, Kate Shepherd, Arnulf Rainer, Konrad Klapheck, Nalini Malani, Barthélémy Toguo, Hervé Di Rosa, David Nash, Juan Uslé, Du Zhenjun, Marc Desgrandchamps, Vik Muniz, Fabienne Verdier, José María Sicilia, Pierre Seinturier, Jean Claracq, Louise Sartor, Maxime Verdier, Paul Rousteau, Marc-Antoine Mathieu, JR
