Description from the seller

Vintage table lamp by the Spanish manufacturer Industrias Joaquín Ripoll S.A., executed as Type 690.

The lamp is constructed from several materials and techniques. The round, profiled base and other dark parts are made of wood. The central section consists of cream-colored glazed ceramic with a fine craquelé surface.

This ceramic element is fully open-worked with repeating geometric and foliate motifs.
The combination of dark wood, ivory-colored ceramic, and the classical construction gives the lamp a distinctly decorative character that aligns with Spanish and Mediterranean interior design from the latter half of the 20th century.

What is particularly notable about this piece is mainly the detailing of the central ceramic portion. The craquelé in the glaze forms, together with the open-worked decoration, a strong contrast with the darkly finished wooden components.

Also the wooden base is composed of multiple turned and profiled rings.

At the bottom, the original factory label is still present.

Joaquín Ripoll was a Spanish manufacturer from Sant Hilari Sacalm, Girona, a place with a long tradition in woodwork and furniture and interior production. The company produced decorative interior items and lighting, in which wood was frequently combined with ceramic and other materials.

The lamp is fitted with a fabric shade. The electrical setup consists of a black socket, metal shade holder, and a black cord with a switch.

The exact production date of Type 690 has not been established. Based on design, construction, and materials used, the lamp can be placed in the second half of the 20th century, presumably around the 1970s–1980s.

Condition: vintage with minor signs of use and aging. On the wood there are localized scratches and damages, including on the base. The ceramic portion shows the characteristic fine craquelé of the glaze. See the detail photos for a full view of the condition.
