**** Variety: Ruby - originating from the Afghan valleys, close to Panjshir mining sites, these corundums have chrome, a distinguishing factor of sapphire as a gem far rarer in ruby form, prized in fine jewelry. Their natural characteristics, with no treatments at all, attract a larger number of enthusiasts and collectors of rare and precious stones.
**** Afghan Rubies are, today, commonly heated to increase clarity and deepen their color to rich tones due to their high iron content. Untreated, unheated pieces like this jewel here, the lot of this sale, are therefore a “investment-grade” not to be missed.
Color: Deep red with rich saturations blending Red, Purple, Pink into the distant "Blue flare" undeniably the most beautiful shade for a Ruby of collection.
