Nicole Lubbers - Crossing

Nicole Lubbers is a Dutch visual artist from the eastern part of the country. Her work is characterized by an innovative and idiosyncratic approach to abstract art, in which painting, relief and sculptural elements come together. With rich colors, layered structures and diverse materials she creates powerful works around themes such as resilience, movement, strength and transformation.

Her international career has developed strongly in recent years. Lubbers was named Artist of the Year 2024 during the Belgrade Biennale, received the Institutional Award of the Municipality of Montecosaro and placed second at the World Art Awards as Most Innovative Artist 2024. In addition she was counted among the 100 best female artists in the world and recognised as Master in Art.

Internationally her work has been seen and planned for exhibitions in, among other places, New York, Venice, Florence, Belgrade, Belgium, China and Montecosaro, in addition to exhibitions in Dutch galleries.

A particularly highlight is Beyond the Surface, a solo exhibition on Times Square in New York. In addition Nicole together with artist Michael Lam presents the exhibition Harmony in Motion: Two Artists, One Vision. Here Lam’s flowing Single Stroke Painting and Lubbers’ expressive, layered structures meet each other. The color purple forms the connecting line between two different artistic languages and symbolises creativity, spirituality and transformation.

The work of Nicole Lubbers is more than decoration. Her compositions invite reflection on perseverance, growth and overcoming challenges. Each work forms a powerful and tangible statement that gives a space character, energy and individuality.

In addition to her work as a visual artist, Nicole Lubbers is also known as a doll maker. Her artworks are delivered with a certificate of authenticity.
