Blue Steps presents a narrow exterior staircase transformed into a stage through color and light. The steps of an intense blue rise toward a large arch illuminated by orange tones, while a terracotta pot with a small tree occupies the central axis of the composition. On both sides, white walls, hanging pots, vegetation and a lamp complete an architectural space of an intimate character.

The composition is organized through a marked ascending perspective that guides the eye from the foreground to the arch at the top. The contrast between the blues of the staircase and the oranges of the pot and background creates the main chromatic tension of the work, reinforced by greens, violets and broad white surfaces. The shadows projected onto the steps add depth and turn light into a structural element within the scene.

Blue Steps is part of Mar Legón’s research on everyday architectural spaces and places of passage, reinterpreted through an intense palette and a progressive simplification of forms. In this piece, the staircase ceases to function solely as an architectural element and becomes the main compositional resource: a visual journey that organizes the space and directs the gaze toward the illuminated area in the background.

Executed entirely by hand in 2026, this unique piece gathers some of the characteristic elements of the artist’s recent production: saturated colors, complementary contrasts, defined shadows and a spatial construction based on simple geometries and vegetal elements. The work transforms a domestic corner into a composition with strong visual presence, where architecture, light and color establish a balance between depth, rhythm and stillness.

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Mar Legón develops a pictorial practice focused on reinterpretations of landscapes, interiors, still lifes and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis and the construction of atmospheres.

Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination and contemplation.

PACKAGING AND AUTHENTICITY

The work is offered directly by Mar Legón, and includes a certificate signed by the artist. The painting (unframed) will be carefully rolled and protected inside a sturdy cardboard tube to ensure proper conservation during transport. After payment is confirmed, a maximum of three business days is required to prepare the piece before shipment. Delivery time varies by destination, with an estimated period of up to ten business days, depending on the shipping company chosen by the buyer.
