Description from the seller
THE VINEYARDS
100 × 70 cm
Acrylic on canvas · 2026
The Vineyards builds a contemplative scene from a large window open to a vineyard landscape. From the intimacy of the interior, the gaze passes through the orange frames and projects toward rows of crops that advance in depth among lush vegetation, reaching the hills on the horizon. Architecture thus functions as a threshold between two spaces: the protected interior and the expansive brightness of the landscape.
The composition is organized through a frontal perspective reinforced by the lines of the vineyards, which visually lead toward the background and provide rhythm and depth. Intense greens dominate the exterior and contrast with the oranges and reds of the window, while the deep blues of the sky and the shadows balance the chromatic intensity. Light passes through the opening and is projected onto the interior floor in large blue shapes, extending the landscape into the room and linking the two spaces.
PROJECTION AND VALUE OF THE WORK
The Vineyards is part of Mar Legón’s research on windows, doors and architectural elements understood as devices for observing and constructing the landscape. In this piece, the window does not act solely as a frame, but as an essential part of the composition, establishing a relationship between proximity and distance, interior and exterior, architecture and nature.
Completed entirely by hand in 2026, this unique piece gathers some of the artist’s characteristic elements: a vibrant color palette, synthesized forms, strong lighting contrasts, and a spatial organization based on planes of color. The work turns the contemplation of a rural landscape into an intense visual experience, where depth is built through the repetitive rhythm of the crops and the contrast between architectural geometry and the organic shapes of vegetation.
ABOUT THE ARTIST
Mar Legón develops a painting practice focused on the reinterpretation of landscapes, interiors, still lifes, and figurative scenes through a visual language based on color, formal synthesis, and atmosphere construction.
Her work transforms spaces and recognizable motifs into images of strong visual intensity, where reality is simplified and reorganized to give rise to scenes that oscillate between memory, imagination, and contemplation.
