"Shattered Singularity" – A tour de force of light and structure
In his latest work from the series "Soft Geometry," the artist Yannick Leniger presents a visual composition that makes the moment of extreme energy instantly tangible. "Shattered Singularity" captures the moment of a catastrophic impact, which carves a crack through reality and turns the center of the image into a dynamic void.
The piece captivates with its impressive tactility: using the precise Hot Glue Sculpting technique, it creates a sculptural, relief-like surface that breaks out of the two-dimensional canvas. The combination of oxidized copper tones, finest leaf metal (foil), and a rough spray-paint aesthetic gives the 50x90 cm artwork incomparable depth.
A special highlight is the play with light: depending on the viewing angle and light incidence, the copper pigments begin to shimmer and bring the work to life – it seems as if the metallic lattice beneath the surface is glowing.

In 2003, Yannick Leniger began graffiti painting and gained experience in handling spray paints and the textures of various substrates during nightly actions.
In 2010, Yannick Leniger started creating his characteristic works from the Flowering series, which enjoyed great popularity. Through the combination with spray paints and acrylics, Leniger developed various techniques that yield unique effects in his works.
These mixed techniques are also found in Leniger’s current works. Influenced by artists such as Christiaan Lieverse and Pier Toffoletti, the current works depict people who are developed in connection with structure-imparting means. In several steps, parts are concealed, reworked, and highlighted.
From 2019 to 2022, Yannick Leniger was a member and treasurer of Kunstforderer e.V. in Unna and supported the association in a variety of creative projects with children and youths, schools, and open all-day programs. Since 2023, Yannick Leniger has been the first chairman of Kunstforderer e.V. in Unna.
